Cities Change

2018 sees The Substation exploring heritage in its multifarious forms, and how — through the mechanisms of history, memory, and nostalgia — it shapes, and is shaped by the city. Heritage is examined through, on the one hand, its instrumentalisation in writing the Singapore Story by way of SG50 and nostalgia-steeped festivals, and on the other, through different modes of resistance, contestation, and collaboration in the cultural production of local forms of heritage.
