○ PRINT SHOP

Print Shop is an exploration of what self-publishing in the arts can look like in an increasingly connected and carefully curated world.

Items like zines and newsletters are the primary output of Print Shop. More of my works are now printed with a monochrome A4 printer, setting a limit for size and colour, but also lets me play around more with the output. Mass production opens up many interesting and beautiful ways of book-making, and possibilities are limitless. Part of self-publishing for me is about making use of what is at hand and economical. The book making process is part of the work itself; the book should be more than the contents it holds too. When held, the viewer should be curious to rotate it all around and peer at the imperfectness of the book. Many of my works here are made by hand for that reason.

The themes of these zines cover the fantastical and mundane, but are mostly born out of a reaction to the way we consume and receive information now. Print Shop also contains non-print items. I sometimes like to dumpster dive in my workspace and see what I can come up with.

○ PROCESS

Remixing materials is a form of creative respite, allowing for more interesting and unplanned developments by freeing the mind and taking a break. The objects featured here are created using a more tactile way of connecting materials and ideas together. New meanings can be constructed out of rejected or incomplete pieces of work, remixing the source material to rebuild an old narrative.
